FreeStore check · Takes about 20 seconds
Check your store against the e-commerce rules
Enter your store's address. We read up to ten of its public pages, the way any visitor would. Then we show which of the details the rules ask you to display we could find, whether your Rule 4(15) statement is up, and which features are worth testing for dark patterns.
Run the check
Two quick questions decide which rules apply to you. Nothing you enter, and nothing we read, is stored: the report exists only in this browser tab.
The check reads public pages only. It doesn't log in, add to cart, fill in forms or run your site's scripts, and it follows your robots.txt. It identifies itself as DarkPatternAuditCheck.
HowWhat the check does
A reading of public pages, not an audit
- What it reads. Your homepage, then up to eight pages it links to: contact, returns, shipping, terms, privacy, about, a product page and any self-audit statement.
- What it looks for. The details Rule 4(2) and Rule 7(1)(a) ask you to show, and your Rule 4(15) statement. It also flags features that often produce dark patterns when misconfigured: countdown apps, add-on protection, pop-ups, subscriptions, pre-ticked boxes and reduced prices.
- What it can't see. Carts, checkouts, logged-in journeys, apps, and how things behave over time. Most dark patterns live there, which is why the Audit Sprint tests journeys across sessions and time.
- How to read it. "Not found" means our software couldn't find it on the pages it read, not that it isn't there. Nothing here is legal advice or a verdict.
